Client Summary

Background and Industry Context

Host with Wander is a curated collection of luxury short-term rental properties based in the United States, with locations spanning mountain destinations like Mars Hill, North Carolina and Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Operating in the competitive vacation rental space, the brand was built on a clear and deliberate philosophy – that every traveler deserves a stay that is thoughtfully designed, consistently high in quality, and entirely stress-free.

Unlike platforms that rely on third-party marketplaces, Host with Wander positions itself as a direct-booking hospitality brand. Each property in its portfolio is hand-selected, intentionally styled, and held to the same elevated standard – from premium furnishings and luxury linens to carefully considered layouts and modern amenities. The brand serves group travelers, families, and experience-driven guests who expect more than just a roof over their heads.

The challenge was communicating all of that through a digital experience that matched the warmth, quality, and intention of the physical spaces themselves.

Project Summary

Context, Challenge, and Deliverables

The short-term rental industry is dominated by large third-party platforms Airbnb, Vrbo, and the like – where individual hosts often struggle to establish brand identity or build direct guest relationships. Host with Wander had a distinct offering and a clear point of view, but needed a digital presence that would earn trust, communicate quality, and convert visitors into direct bookings without the noise of a marketplace environment.

The goal was to build a website that felt as curated as the properties themselves one that removed friction, answered questions before they were asked, and gave potential guests the confidence to book directly. Deliverables included a full website design and build, content architecture, property page layouts, a journal and local area guide structure, and a seamless booking flow.

Design Approach

Approach, Decisions, and Outcomes

The starting point was understanding what makes a traveler choose to book direct. The answer came down to trust. Guests bypassing platforms like Airbnb need to feel confident in who they’re booking with confident in the quality, the communication, and the experience that awaits them. Every design decision was made in service of that trust.

The information architecture was structured around the guest journey rather than the business structure. Navigation was simplified into clear, intuitive pathways properties, guides, journal, and about each serving a specific moment in the research and decision-making process. The goal was to reduce cognitive load and surface the right information at exactly the right time.

Property pages were designed to do the heavy lifting. Rather than relying on a few photos and a block of text, each listing was given space to breathe showcasing amenities, guest capacity, and standout features in a format that was easy to scan and visually compelling. The real guest reviews were integrated prominently, letting social proof speak directly to the quality and hospitality that Host with Wander consistently delivers.

A Local Area Guides and Journal section was built into the site architecture as a content layer that served dual purposes helping guests plan richer, more informed trips while also positioning Host with Wander as an authority on its destinations. This content strategy deepened engagement and extended the brand relationship beyond the booking itself.

The visual language was kept clean, warm, and grounded reflecting the elevated yet welcoming nature of the properties. Typography, spacing, and imagery worked together to convey the same thoughtfulness that guests experience the moment they step through the door of a Host with Wander property.

The result is a digital presence that earns trust before a single booking is made a website that feels as intentional, comfortable, and well-considered as the homes it represents.
